Conditional submission merely reveals what you love more than God. Any supposed submission to God that is subject to conditions is not submission at all. As long as there are limits in what you are willing to sacrifice for God, your actual submission is to what you are unwilling to sacrifice.
The sacrifices God requires you to be precisely designed for your greatest possible benefit. As such, there are no alternative or replacement sacrifices you can offer instead. God’s requested sacrifices reveal to us the limits of our trust in and desire for him, enabling us to address flaws we would otherwise not even know about. As everything God asks of you is in your personal best interest, the existence of anything he could ask you to do that you would not do indicates a limit of your trust in him, his love for you, and his purpose.
The decision to adopt the Lord’s purpose is a one-time decision, not something you re-evaluate on a case-by-case basis. When you find yourself hesitating in your eagerness to adopt God’s purpose, you have discovered the next limit of your trust in him.
