Some Christians believe that God can’t be known. Like Job’s friend Elihu, they believe that God’s greatness requires him to be unknowable,826 not realizing that his ability and desire to make himself known to such lowly creatures as ourselves827 ranks chief among what makes him the greatest of all.
God can be known. Coming to know him is a process. The Lord defined eternal life as knowing God,828 not just showing that it is possible to know him, but showing that the very process of coming to know him is eternal life. As you learn more about him and live everything you know, you will increasingly know him and increasingly obtain eternal life.829
