Challenges will come with every important decision you make. The challenges will be as difficult as the decision is important, every time. Here is a sampling of what you can expect:

Confusion . You will forget the reasons for your decision. You will feel anxious or guilty because you have to recreate the reasons you had for the decision, and they won’t be as good as the original reasons which you’ve forgotten. This is why it is essential to write down your reasons.

People. When people disagree with your decision, they will judge you and persecute you. You might start losing confidence in your actions. You can minimize their effect by treating them as a source of new information. If they have reasons for how they feel, you can incorporate those reasons into your list. If they are significant, you should change your mind. If they aren’t, then their words, actions, and feelings should not bother you.

Distractions . Life requires you to get busy with other things, which might cause you to forget how massively important these things are. You have to keep your priorities sorted. Left to normal life, even matters of life and death become secondary to less important things: here and now takes precedence over clear, long-term benefit; spiritual progression takes a back seat to what others will think of us, and so on. When you make your decision, also write out why your decision matters and the outcomes you expect because of it. This is something that can provide you great strength against the tendency of life to distract you, as well as a safety valve to get out of a bad decision. When new information suggests that your decision will lead to an outcome significantly worse than what you expected, it is a likely sign that you are now able to replace your previous choice with a better one.
