Most people don’t improve their qualities very much, and some not at all, but it isn’t because character improvement is any harder than any other change—it’s just less often pursued.
It’s not uncommon for people to care about what they look like. Many people watch what they eat and work out to get or stay in shape, spend money on nice clothing, or spend considerable time on grooming, but comparatively few make any comparable investment into their character.
Character improvement lies opposite of human nature. A little improvement requires a lot of intentional effort, and a lot of improvement requires a lot more of the same.
Do you place as much time and effort on the quality of your character as you do on your physical appearance? If not, why not?
