You will have to overcome dishonesty in order to achieve your potential. Dishonesty blinds you to who you are and blocks you from who you could become. You won’t know the good you are capable of or the worth it carries, stripping you of the necessary motivation to attain your potential. If you want to be the best person you can be and do the greatest good, you’ll have to be honest all the time, including being yourself in all situations.
It is highly likely that the greatest obstacle between you and everything you desire is dishonesty. To the extent you deviate from full, integral honesty, you will fail to obtain what you hope for and desire in life. Dishonesty will blind you to how things really are, consistently frustrating your ability to obtain what you desire and continually presenting you with problems in life that you can’t adequately address.
Being yourself with others will increase the meaning you give and receive in your relationships. Until you become honest, you will not be aware of the degree of harm you cause others, or harm they cause you, nor be capable of seeing just how good the good few are. As you grow in honesty, you will find your relationships with others increase in quality, even if your increased candor causes them to reduce in quantity.
As you increase the honesty you exercise within and with others, you increase the bandwidth of the relationship you can have with God. Alignment with God is the most important component and benefit of honesty, as everything of worth in and after this life comes in proportion to how well you know God and how much you have become like him. Jesus gives you the power to be who you really are and become as good as you could really be. To maximize your alignment to God, you need to know who you really are, how he sees you, and how he is. As you make every change necessary to align with God, he will reveal more to you about how you are and how you can be, creating an unending cycle of improvement in your life that increases the goodness you receive from him and that flows out from you to others, maximizing the meaning and joy you experience here and hereafter.
The more dishonest you are and the longer you are dishonest for, the greater the consequences will be and the harder it will be to return to a state of honesty. Begin being more honest today.
