Your ability to retain and grow the amount and accuracy of truth that you presently see doesn’t just depend on how well you live up to it in your own life, but also how effectively you persuade others to do the same.

You don’t realize that every single time you inhibit what you really think, feel, or would otherwise do, you are voluntarily assuming some measure of the consequences of dishonesty in your life, causing great harm to yourself and others.

The alternative, which almost no one has the courage to implement, is to authentically express what you think and feel, and faithfully do what you otherwise would in every situation. If the pushback you receive in doing so is invalid, then continue thinking, feeling, and acting just as you did before, no matter how much it offends others. If the criticism you receive in doing so is valid, do not respond by hiding your true self, but by changing your true self. You can tell the difference between hiding and changing by analyzing how you subsequently think, feel, and act in subsequent situations free from the oversight of those who would correct you.
